The Troops of Saint George is a fraternal Catholic nonprofit “adventure apostolate” for boys, young men, fathers, and priests looking for a life of adventure conducted by a moral compass. Its auspicious aim is to awaken in its members their inner warrior, that they may walk confidently into the wild and overcome the challenges that are posed by an environment untamed by technology and the bridle of false security that inheres in modern society.

Troop 9 is not a social club, but rather a prolonged pilgrimage spanning many years and undertaken by like-minded men and their boys to submit themselves to their own limitations and shortcomings–to surrender, and let God alone act.  This formative process of continued conversion or “metanoia” is the fruit of this journey, which will ultimately transcend this life and end in the next.

Troop 9 was established on January 1, 2023: the Solemnity of Mary, Mother of God.  It serves South Kansas City, including such suburbs as Belton, Blue Springs, Grandview, Greenwood, Harrisonville, Holden, Independence, Lee’s Summit, Pleasant Hill, Raymore, Raytown, and others.

The Chaplain of Troop 9 is Fr. Curt Vogel of the Diocese of Kansas City-St. Joseph.  An Eagle Scout himself, Fr. Vogel is well-equipped to shepherd Troop 9 with due proficiency in both outdoors and spiritual skills.

Troop meetings are held monthly at St. Bridget Parish Center, located at 2103 Lexington Road, Pleasant Hill, MO 64080.
